From the amount of questions about similar crashes I would hold off and view this the result of a bad update. Look for the problem on an internet search engine, there seem to be a number of updates that have been replaced over and over for months now and it continues.

Thanks to you both - I had already tried Method 2 and worked through after resetting as stated in my post and this did not help - the problem returned as soon as I tried to go onto eBay and stay more than a few seconds.

As said above this problem is repeatedly being reported with no good answers yet to come from Microsoft.

So, perhaps E Bay may wish to get in on the act?

By all means, do contact eBay...they change things enough that occasionally it can go haywire.  If they know then both sides can work it out.

Don't expect Microsoft to have an answer in ten minutes though...you obviously have no idea how complex an operating system or browser is. Few do, and this one was a preemie.

I just bought a new laptop and it was working fine.  IE was fast and responsive and did NOT crash or hang.

Within a few days, along came Microsoft's Anniversary update.  Now IE hangs, freezes, etc.. all the time.

I too have problems now getting on ebay.com.  Constant messages "ebay.com is not responding" is common.  Same this with this Microsoft site. Same with many other sites.

This is NOT an isolated problem.  Too many people are having the exact same problem. Microsoft's solution of running the IE trouble shooter or resetting IE settings is NOT correcting the problem,

Microsoft, we need a fix please!

Thanks for that Mark, I was beginning to think I was a worse 'idiot' than I thought I was

Things continue to get worse.

Now that Windows 10 Anniversary Edition has had updates, IE crashes at EVERY website I go to.

IE crashes EVERTIME I try to type something into the search bar.  I get a few letters or words typed, then it freezes.  This is even on the MSN Website using Bing as my search engine.

It's funny these problems don't exist with Edge.  However, Edge lacks the third party extensions I've been using with IE for years.  I won't change without being able to use them.  Sorry Microsoft.

I read somewhere that the Enterprise Edition of Windows defaults to the Edge browser and will only allow IE for certain websites.  Maybe they're trying something similar with the Home Edition as well.  Blocking the use of IE would certainly "force" us into using Edge.

I Installed the Firefox web browser last night.  It installed flawlessly and copied over all my IE settings.  For the first time in weeks I was able to visit a website or type in search information without the browser crashing.

If Anniversary Update is part of the problem using a wet noodle won't make a difference.

Let's solve the problem at hand first. many others are counting on all of us to come up with solutions, not just tell people to try something else.

Perhaps if we all help Lady-Trisha Christmas solve this we will be doing the entire Windows 10 Community a big favor.

Thanks for the above.

However, reluctantly, I downloaded Chrome, just to use it for E bay at the moment, it still seems over complicated to set up and use, in IE I had all that I required at my finger tips, some things, like RoboForm hardly appear to want to work in Chrome at all!    I will persevere one day.

Now IE crashes even if I only have EBay open in Chrome - so is IE interacting with Chrome or is this another pointer to E Bay being at fault.
